I’m a sports junkie, I admit it. I’ll sit and watch just about any football game, anywhere. I get totally bleary eyed from all night Olympics watching marathons. I like baseball, hockey and racing too. I can occasionally get interested in men’s hoops (March Madness anyone?) but I personally prefer the women’s game when it comes to basketball. The NBA lockout concerned me not one whit. I didn’t miss the NBA.
Many online book sites devote entire sections to sports related books. They also devote entire sections to gay and lesbian related books. But, for whatever reason, under the broad gay and lesbian category we get a breakdown to non-fiction but under that there is no sports category. Sports minded LGBT people are left to their own research to find books that look at athletes and athleticism from a gay or lesbian perspective.
Not anymore! On the biography page of this site I had previously listed books by gay and lesbian athletes. I moved them to this page where they’ve now joined other sports related books with an LGBT slant that I’ve reviewed.
Finally, since I’m a sports junkie, you can expect to see many more books join these on this page as more and more of “our” athletes come out and show their pride.
