Singer/songwriter and guitarist Diana Chittester came out publicly last night in her fan newsletter in order to openly throw her support behind the organization PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) .
I profiled Diana’s music on this blog on June 20th after she had played at Columbus Pride. I speculated then that appearances lead me to the conclusion that Diana is a lesbian but, not having evidence and not being one to call people out, I left the speculation open. Diana responded that we’d all know soon or words to that effect.
Apparently, her being gay is well known among her family and friends and, in fact, her business partner is also her life partner. Diana just wasn’t out professionally. She took that leap last night to support a great cause in PFLAG.
It seems Diana’s coming out to family wasn’t easy and now, 8 years or so later, it’s still a struggle for them. In the interest of helping others, especially young people, coming out to struggle less with their own loved ones, she has decided to donate proceeds from each sale of her new album to PFLAG. Please go to her website at http://dianachittester.com/ and scroll down to “CD For A Cause” for more information.
Please also continue reading beyond the “CD For A Cause” section for more insight into Diana Chittester and her own label, Fighting Chance Records.
Monday, July 16th Update: I wanted to also point out that Diana has a great fan page on Facebook. Check it out and give her a like…it won’t hurt you and it will help her spread the word:

Damn, why do the hot female artists have to be gay (Brandi, Diana..)? So sucks!
Sorry Travis, but there are a lot of great, “hot” straight artists too. The question is, do you really have a chance with any of them either? LOL. Have a good one!
