Fluff time!
It’s been a crazy week at work…both jobs…at home…everywhere. I have one day off; today. Tonight, I’m lying on the couch and I’m watching movies. Maybe I’ll get my wife to rub my feet…no, maybe not…it tickles…anywho…
I’m just not in the mood for high drama tonight. I don’t even think I can handle action/adventure. I just want to chill. I decided to go with a romantic comedy/campy flick for today’s review and for tonight’s viewing.
Quit groaning; this is a good one! I promise. Today’s selection is Broadway Damage starring Mara Hobel, Michael Lucas, Hugh Panero, Aaron Williams and Gary Janetti. Never heard of any of them you say? Don’t worry about it. I believe you’ll like the movie anyway.
Along the same lines as boy meets girl, boy and girl fall for each other, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back in the end and they all live happily ever after is this movie – except that it’s boy meets boy, boy falls for boy…you get it, I’m sure. Oh, it’s not totally formula though! Besides the “gay” twist, there are a few others. The best part is that it’s set in New York and, I must say, it’s set realistically. These characters share accommodations – and not on the upper east side – and they and “work” (or try too).
Okay, I admit, there are some reviews that pan this movie. Granted. If you go into it expecting a light, romantic comedy with a couple of “average” people like ourselves who somehow figure it all out in the end, that’s what you’ll get and you’ll enjoy it. If you go into it expecting a 60 million dollar production with an amazing script and musical score and big name actors at the top of their game, you’re going to be seriously disappointed. This movie is for entertainment and relaxation. It’s not to pick apart with you circle of critic friends.
I enjoyed this. I think you will too if you’re into romantic comedies and you approach it from a relax and be entertained standpoint.
