Earlier tonight, I got home from work to find an email feed from them in my box. These come in a couple or three times a week. Sometimes I’m prompted to click, sometimes not. The topics tend to trend younger and toward the party crowd so they’re not always of interest to me. This time, I definitely clicked.
If you watched season one of “The Real L Word” then you’re no doubt familiar with lesbian power couple Nikki Weiss-Goldstein and Jill Goldstein. Though they live a lifestyle most of us in middle America could never dream of living, they definitely were among the more sane, down to earth members of a show that often degenerated into high lesbian drama. Their scenes in their only season on the show often revolved around the planning of their California, non-legal, same-sex wedding.
On Monday, Nikki and Jill published, far and wide, an open letter to reality TV star Kim Kardashian chastizing her, and calling her out, for her multi-million dollar wedding that led to a marriage that lasted only 72 days. In their letter, they plea to Kardashian to do some good with the money she earned from her sham but legal marriage by using it to back marriage equality. It’s a powerful letter. Let’s hope Ms. Kardashian is listening!
