I’m back…sorta!
It’s been a long week plus. I’m finally able to sit down and scribble a few lines, but only a few. My wife went back to work today after a spending a long week with a hospitalized family member. Now she’s on her way home. Once she’s ready, we’re headed out to the Ohio State Fair to enjoy the festival of lesbians that will be present due to the Melissa Etheridge concert tonight. She’s my all time favorite musician. She was a favorite before I came to realize my personal truth and come out. This will be my third concert since that time. If she’s true to form, she’ll start on time and play non-stop for 2 1/2 to 3 hours to a packed house of 95+% women. It’s gonna be great.
Melissa was a late addition to the fair schedule. The fair board likes to keep a couple of dates open and see what pops up. She proved three years ago to be an incredibly huge draw of a crowd that wouldn’t typically attend an event that’s thought to primarily focus on the agricultural community like a state fair. When it gets down to it though, she has broad appeal that extends far beyond the LGBT community. There will be plenty of conservationists, political hacks, and cancer survivors in tonight’s crowd too. It’ll be a good mix.
If you’re in the area, I hope to see you at the Ohio State Fair! If not, check back with me tomorrow for my thoughts on the show!
