Written by The city of Columbus, Ohio was recently named the2011 up and coming gay city in, “The Best Gay Cities: The World According to Gays”. Yes, you read that right my gay and lesbian brothers and sisters, Columbus, Ohio! Those of us that live here already knew this. We’re proud enough of this great LGBT city to feel slighted every time the Advocate or some other such nationally recognized publication glosses over us, if they mention us at all.
True, Columbus isn’t New York or L.A. and, quite frankly, we don’t want to be! This is a truly vibrant Midwestern city with wonderful communities, fantastic opportunities, plenty to see and do and, over all of it, Midwestern sensibility. You can be yourself here without putting on airs for anyone. You can walk down the street holding you’re partners hand and feel accepted comfortable and safe. Try that anywhere else in the Midwest!
